LEGO Star Wars Escape Pod vs. Dewback Microfighter Review (Blog Post)

I stated in my 2019 Star Wars set wave blog post, this Microfighter set is one of the coolest in the entire series.

Set Name: LEGO Star Wars Escape Pod vs. Dewback Microfighters
Set Number: 75228
Pieces: 117
Minifigures: 3
Release Date: January 1, 2019

As always, I will start with the minifigures. The first notable feature about the set is that it comes with 3 minifigures instead of the usual 2 figures. This is the first duel microfighter to have the 3 figures and hopefully we will see more in the future. In my opinion, the Sandtrooper is by far the coolest figure in the set. He comes with backgear, a staff, binoculars, and a long ranged assault riffle. The trooper can store his extra gear on the Dewback which is nice. Inside, the troopers helmet is complete with back printing. This is the first white helmet to include black interior printing and I like it. The trooper has a lot of detail on the front and back. I’m so glad they included printing on the back even though it’s covered by his backgear.

The Dewback is super cute. It has light and dark green printing and a brown saddle. The feet have three claws that are tan. Both the head and tail has the ability to move and rotate so you can choose how it is positioned. Another cool feature which I already mentioned is you can hold the Sandtroopers extra gear- an awesome feature. The Dewback is by far the best part of the set.

The escape pod is very impressive. The fact that they found a way to have both droids fit on the pod is amazing. The engines are very similar to the most recent escape pod. There is not much to say about the pod, except that it’s a really cool design.

This set is great. It’s very small and probably the cutest microfighter set out there. I normally am not a huge fan of the microfighter but this is by far the best one they have created. I would give this set a 10/10. Let me know what your favorite microfighter set is down in the comment section, and have a great day!

LEGO Star Wars Snoke’s Throne Room Review (LEGO Blog)

Hello readers, today we are going to take a look at the Snoke’s Throne Room. I got this set as a gift from my grandparents in California. Thank you so much!

This set is amazing! The size is perfect and it comes with an excellent selection of minifigures. When this set first came out it retailed for $70. I have know idea what LEGO was thinking; for $70 that would be a scam. Now it’s going for $45-$50 which is a great deal.

Set Name: LEGO Star Wars Snoke’s Throne Room
Set Number: 75216
Pieces: 492
Minifigures: 5
Release Date: August 1, 2018

First I will start with the minifigures. I think the most noticeable minifigures in this set are the Praetorian Guards. They are in an all red uniform and face. They have the new skirt-ish pants that we have been seeing more and more recently. Their weapons are good looking. We have the same Snoke Minifigure as we saw in the First Order Star Destroyer. He is dressed in golden robes. I don’t have much to say about him, he was a nice figure but wasn’t a well developed character in the movie. Rey is in this set and he is my favorite figure of Rey they have created; I love the hair and the grey/blue outfit. Kylo Rem is in his all black armor outfit. Both figures look great.

Snoke’s Throne is cool. It can turn 360 degrees and has the ability to be removed from the room. Right before his throne where Rey stands, you can use the pull system to move Rey closer to Snoke and reenact the scene from the movie. I personally love this feature, It definitely improves the playability. The two tall walls to either side of the room make the set look complete. The only thing I would have liked to seen was red drapes on them so it resembled the movie better.

There is a little quarter wall on the side of the room that has a magnifying glass where you can look into space. The space piece is a sticker and you cannot see any space ships outside, but you can see stars. The bridge is a little small width wise, but still looks good. I like how they added the railings for extra detail. The door in the back looks nice too, although it is a little hard to turn the door.

Overall, I like this set. I feel like the playability is strong and the design is solid. I could not ask for better figures. At the $45-$50 range I would give this set a 9/10. Let me know your thoughts on the set in the comment section!

LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary Set Thoughts (LEGO Blog)

Yesterday, LEGO released 5 new LEGO sets for LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary. When I first saw these sets I was in love with them, but at a closer look, I am no longer as excited. In this blog post, I will review the new sets and share my thoughts.

Hoth Snowspeeder

The Hoth Snowspeeder is a fantastic build and LEGO seemed to perfect the design. But even as I first looked at the set, I wondered why are we getting another snowspeeder. We have gotten 4-5 Hoth Snowspeeders in just the last 6 years. It doesn’t make sense why they would make another one, as the previous versions of the speeder were perfect. If you don’t have one this one already, this is a fantastic opportunity to purchase one now. However, if you already have one, there is no need to update at this time. As for the 3 rebel figures, they are cool. There is nothing to really say about them since there’s nothing new.

Imperial Dropship

The Imperial Dropship is a remake from 2007. The sole purpose of the ship is to transport figures, which this set looks to do very well. In my opinion it looks pretty ugly, but lots of people seem to like it. As for why LEGO decided to choose this ship for the 20th Anniversary baffles me as the ship wasn’t in any Star Wars movies. It makes zero sense that it is in this collection. Also, while the majority of the LEGO community does not like the new Stormtrooper helmets, I like them a lot because it represents the helmets shown in the movie more accurately. We also get a Shadow Trooper which is nice.

Slave One

Slave One is one of two of the sets that make sense to be in the anniversary collection. (The other one being the Podracer) It is an iconic ship from the original trilogy and it deserved more screen time. The set itself looks really awesome. It appears to look bulky, but personally I don’t mind. All of the figures look great. The only thing I would have added was a Bossk minifgure.

AT-RT

The AT-RT walker looks awesome. It is extremely similar to the 2013 AT-RT Clone Wars walker. The small spider droid looks really cool from the image. The Wookie’s Turret also looks amazing. The Wookie appears to look like Chewbacca but you can’t really tell from this picture. The set also comes with a Kashyyyk Trooper and Battle Droid.

Podracer

The Podracer is so cool! It has been a really long time since we have gotten one. A lot of fans didn’t really like the Podracing scene, but personally I liked it a lot. The Podracer looks perfect. From the engines to the drivers seat it looks very cool. As for the figures, I am not a fan of young Anakin’s face. It does not represent any facial expressions from the movie. Padmé looks nice though. They used medium sized legs which I have never seen before, so that is different. Personally I didn’t mind the regular sized legs but I like it.

Anniversary Figures

I am a little disappointed in the Anniversary figures. On the back printing of the figures it says “20 Years LEGO Star Wars”. In my opinion, that was completely unnecessary as there is already printing on the figure stand and there was no need to add it a second time. Also, it decreases the value of the figures. I would have rather had the original back printing.

Back Printing

Overall the sets themselves are great, but the choices of the sets they choose to put in this collection were awful. They should have had 6 iconic sets, one from each original movie. The could have also traded Lando Calrissian with the original R2-D2 and C-3PO. I would have liked LEGO to somehow figure out how to incorporate an original Chewbacca in the collection. Let me know your thought on the sets below. Do you love them? Hate Them? Which one are you most excited for?

LEGO Star Wars Y-Wing 75172 Set Review

Set Name: LEGO Star Wars Rebel Y-Wing Star Fighter
Set Number: 75172
Pieces: 691
Minifigures: 5
Release Date: January 1, 2017

Hello Everyone! Today we will be looking at the 2017 Rebel Y-Wing which is based off of the Star Wars Rogue One Movie. I must say this set is really nice. It comes with 5 solid minifigures, a crane, and a super detailed Y-Wing.

Lets begin with the minifigures. Admiral Raddus is in a blue jump suit and has the perfect amount of front and back printing. His face is really cool as the facial features do a great job showing his age. Overall he is an amazing figure. The Stormtrooper is just a generic Stormtrooper. Personally it’s my favorite version LEGO has done. It looks extremely similar to the ones in the movies which is nice.

Moroff is a unique figure. He was briefly seen on the Holy City of Jedha for a few seconds but it’s cool we got him as a figure. On a flat surface, it’s a bit difficult to have him stand up due to the weight of his backpack. He has lots of detailed printing. Although I love the Moroff figure, I would have liked LEGO to add a long overdue Mon Montha. It has been a while since we have seen her and she had much more screen time then Moroff. The Astromech Droid is just a droid, there is nothing really special about the Droid. The Pilot is also the generic LEGO Pilot. Since the set comes with all male figures, I would have liked the pilot to have been female. Overall the figures are solid, detailed and a great addition to a LEGO minifigure collection.

The set comes with a yellow crane that loads missiles and bombs. It’s a pretty cool play feature, although the crane part is a bit hard to maneuver, but it serves its purpose.

Building the Y-Wing was a blast! The ship has a ton detail. It has two spring-loaded missile launchers and an area to drop bombs using a black gear. I would have liked to have seen a bit more yellow throughout the ship. Using the Battle Droid body piece on the sides of the ship shows a great use of pieces. I appreciate how the engines are symmetrical and easily detachable. I am also thankful that LEGO did not add stud shooters because I always accidentally press the flicker.

I wish LEGO would have added a way to attach the figures weapons within the ship, then they won’t get lost or have to carry them when playing. The ship has landing gear that can be put up when flying which is always nice to see on large ships like this one. The bombing feature is really cool and one of my favorite parts. Just by twisting the gear you can drop up to three missiles at once. It’s super easy to function and reload you missiles.

Overall this is an amazing set. I would highly recommend. It is definitely an improvement from the previous Y-Wings LEGO has release. I would give the set a 10/10

LEGO City Mobile Command Center 60139

Hey everyone, this is my first LEGO City review. This is an awesome set. It’s mainly for playability but looks great displayed. The last time LEGO created a mobile police command was in 2007, (set 7743) and this is a huge improvement. Everything is updated, the minifigures, vehicles and features.

Set Name: LEGO City Mobile Command Center
Set Number: 60139

Pieces: 374
Minifigures: 4 plus 1 dog
Price: $39.99
Release Date: January 1, 2017

One cool thing that LEGO started doing the past couple years is creating female characters. In this set we have 2 male and 2 female characters. The first male officer is just the new generic figure, the only thing I would add to him is a few more tools on his belt. He has a walkie talkie, but it would be cool if he had a flashlight or handcuffs printed on. The female motorcycle rider is super cool. Her jacket has lots of detail. One thing I would add is a police logo on her helmet.

The male crook is pretty unique. He has a nice curved mustache which we haven’t really seen before. The female crook is okay, her torso looks off, the red tie does not look like a tie and I’m not a fan of the gray jumpsuit. The dog is the same style dog LEGO has used for years. By now I would have expected some different color and style dogs.

The red 4-wheeler is pretty basic, not much to say about it besides the fact that I wish the dark gray chain could wrap around something so you could drive the vehicle around without it dragging. Without the chain attached, it’s a nice strong vehicle to have fun driving around. The motorcycle is definitely an improvement from the past versions. You can put some police equipment on the sides so the figure can be prepared wherever they drive. When a figure is placed on the motorcycle they are perfectly slanted so they are not too far down or too far up.

Now for the main mobile command truck. The tailor can unhook from the front of the truck. The truck has a jail cell, computer area and an area to hold a motorcycle. I love the front part of the truck with the detailed black grate in the front and the black side mirrors. However, I do wish LEGO made a custom piece making the the side mirrors look more realistic and not look super bulky and big. Between the front and trailer of the truck is some extra space where they added traffic cones. I think this is a great use of extra space and makes it especially easy to detach the trailer from the front.

Moving on to the trailer part of the truck. The jail cell is very spacious, it can fit up to 3 minifigures. The satellite on top could have been a little more complex. The middle part of the trailer folds up which is neat. Inside is a computer with a baby screen and some detailed police notes on the two white walls. The end has a spot for the motorcycle and it has a ramp to swiftly leave the truck. The motorcycle can detach by a 2×2 flat plate with a stud in the center. On the truck, I would have liked to have seen some more police stickers, specifically on the back and sides towards the end. I also would have liked to seen a license plate sticker since it is a vehicle.

Great set. Lots of play features and you can be creative with the storyline. Given this set is over 10 years old, it was due for a major upgrade from the 2007 model and I think LEGO delivered. I rate this set a 9/10. I created a LEGO stop motion with this set, please check out my YouTube channel https://youtu.be/5lPy–A6A-M and let me know what you think. I’d love to hear what your favorite minifigure is in the comment section.

LEGO Star Wars Inferno Squad Battle Pack 75226 Review

Hey Everyone, this is my first review of the new wave of the LEGO Star Wars 2019 winter set wave. And I must say this is one of my favorite sets from this wave. It’s also one of my favorite battle packs LEGO has ever created. This LEGO set is based off of the Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) video game. As I’m not familiar with the videogame, this review is based purely on the set.

Set Name: Inferno Squad Battle Pack
Set Number: 75226
Pieces: 118
Minifigures: 4
Price: $14.99
Release Date: January 1, 2019

As usual, we get 4 minifigures in this battle pack. The first thing I notice when I look at them is the amount of detail they have on their armor. Both the back and front of the body have printing, as well as the legs and helmet. This set also has a wide variety of weapons; 3 different weapons for 4 minifigures, which is really cool. This is also the second female Stormtrooper LEGO has created since Captain Phasma was introduced, so that’s neat. Her name is Iden Versio, she does not come with a helmet and her face is two-sided which is rare for a battle pack set.

The other 3 troopers are male and they all have different faces. The Troopers have Imperial pilot helmets. The helmets don’t cover the entire head, so the back of their heads are unprotected. I wish LEGO covered the entire head so it would look better. One of my favorite parts of the minifigures is that they come with 2 gear belts that are able to go between the legs and body giving it an authentic look. The best part is the gear belts don’t affect the figures ability to sit down, so you can keep the belt on when they are flying the Speeder.

The Speeder is one of my favorite LEGO has ever created. It comes with 4 canons and two flick-fire studs. It looks fast and sleek with the color choice and wing placement. Behind the seat there are two open gray studs, I would have liked to have seen a 1 x 1 slanted triangle piece to cover it up.

Overall this set is amazing. I highly recommend picking this one up. It’s definitely a 10/10 Battle Pack and in my top 5 favorite Battle Packs of all times.
